By accessing and using DoctVault (the "Service"), you agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Service.

These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the "User") andDoctVault (the "Service Provider").

Implied acceptance: Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of these terms.

2. Service Description

DoctVault is a free web application that allows image conversion between different formats entirely locally in the user's browser, without the need to upload files to external servers.

2.1. Main Features

• Format conversion: WebP, AVIF, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, ICO
• Quality adjustment: Compression control (1-100%)
• Resizing: Dimension modification (width/height)
• Batch processing: Multiple files simultaneously
• Bulk download: Results in ZIP format
• Metadata preservation: Optional (EXIF, copyright, GPS)

2.2. Technical Architecture

Image processing occurs entirely on your device through:

• WebAssembly (WASM): High-speed codecs (@jsquash)
• Web Workers: Parallel processing without UI blocking
• Client-side only: No backend, no database, no cloud storage

5. Intellectual Property

5.1. Service Ownership

All source code, visual design, user interface, logos, trademarks and content of DoctVault are protected by international copyright laws and are the exclusive property of the Service Provider or its licensors.

5.2. Your Images Ownership

Ownership guarantee: You retain all rights to the images you process.DoctVault does NOT claim any rights to your content.

Privacy guarantee: Since processing is 100% local in your browser, we never store, view, analyze or have access to your files. See details in Privacy Policy.

5.3. Open Source Licenses

DoctVault uses the following open source libraries:

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep DoctVault available 24/7/365, but we do NOT guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

6.1. Scheduled Maintenance

• Critical security updates
• Performance improvements
• Infrastructure migration
• New feature deployment

Notification: We will try to notify 24 hours in advance via visible banner.

6.2. Unplanned Interruptions

• Unforeseen technical failures (bugs, crashes)
• Infrastructure problems (Firebase, Google Cloud CDN)
• DDoS attacks or hacking attempts
• Natural disasters or datacenter power outages

6.3. Disclaimer

We will NOT be liable for direct or indirect damages arising from:

• Temporary service interruptions
• Loss of time or productivity
• Unsaved data during outages
• Incompatibilities with specific browsers

7. Limitation of Liability

7.1. "As-Is" Service

DoctVault is provided "AS-IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including but not limited to:

7.2. Exclusion of Damages

In NO EVENT shall the Service Provider be liable to you or third parties for:

• Data loss: Although processing is local, we don't guarantee files won't be lost due to browser errors, lack of RAM, tab crashes or JavaScript bugs.
• Indirect damages: Lost profits, business opportunities, reputational damage, loss of clients or contracts.
• Misuse: Legal, criminal or civil consequences arising from processing illegal or infringing content.
• Technical incompatibilities: Problems caused by outdated browsers, conflicting extensions, blocking antivirus, or very low-end devices.
• Punitive or exemplary damages: Any financial penalties beyond actual damages.

7.3. Monetary Limitation

Maximum liability: In the hypothetical case that legal liability of the Provider is determined, the maximum compensation is limited to €0 (zero euros), given that the service is completely free.

7.4. Jurisdictional Validity

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties or limitation of consequential damages. If these limitations don't apply in your region, liability will be limited to the maximum permitted by law.

The treatment of personal data (if any) is governed entirely by our Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of these terms. Please read it carefully.

9. Third-Party Advertising

DoctVault displays Google AdSense ads to fund development, maintenance and infrastructure costs of the free service.

9.1. Advertising Cookies

• Ads may collect information through third-party cookies.
• Google and its advertisers are responsible for ad content (not us).
• You can manage advertising preferences at Google Ad Settings.

9.2. Click Policy

Prohibited: Fraudulent ad clicking (click fraud) is strictly prohibited and may result in:

• AdSense account suspension
• Ad removal (affecting service funding)
• Possible discontinuation of free service

9.3. Advertiser Responsibility

We are NOT responsible for:

• Misleading or fraudulent content in third-party ads
• Products or services advertised by third parties
• Transactions made with advertisers

10. Service Modifications

We reserve the right to, without prior notice, but with reasonable communication effort:

10.1. Functional Changes

• Add new conversion formats
• Modify or remove existing functionalities
• Change technical limits (maximum number of files, maximum file size)
• Update visual design or user interface

10.2. Business Models

• Introduce premium paid versions with additional features
• Implement usage limits for anonymous users
• Require optional registration for advanced features

10.3. Service Discontinuation

If we decide to discontinue DoctVault, we will provide 30 days prior noticevia prominent banner on the homepage.

No refund obligation: Being a free service, there is no financial compensation in case of closure.

11. Modifications to These Terms

We may occasionally update these Terms of Service to reflect:

• Changes in legal regulations (GDPR, CCPA, new laws)
• New functionalities or services
• Improvements in legal protection or clarity

11.1. Change Notification

The "Last updated" date at the beginning of this document will reflect any modifications. Significant changes (such as introducing fees) will be notified via:

• Prominent banner on homepage for 30 days
• Email to registered users (if we implement future registration)

11.2. Acceptance of Changes

Continued use of the service after modifications constitutes acceptance of new terms. If you don't agree, you must immediately discontinue use.

12. Access Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service, with or without prior notice, if:

• You violate any provision of these Terms of Service
• You perform illegal or harmful activities
• You attempt to hack, exploit vulnerabilities or abuse the service
• You generate excessive infrastructure costs through massive automated use
• You participate in ad click fraud
• You provide false or fraudulent information (if we implement registration)

12.2. Termination Effects

Upon terminating your access:

• You will immediately lose the right to use DoctVault
• There will be no refund or compensation (free service)
• Provisions that by nature should survive (limitation of liability, applicable law) will remain in effect

13. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

13.1. Applicable Legislation

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Spain (country of developer's residence) and applicable European regulations, including:

• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• Information Society Services Law (LSSI)
• E-Commerce Directive (2000/31/EC)

13.2. Dispute Resolution

Any controversy or claim arising from these terms will be resolved in the courts of Madrid, Spain, the parties expressly waiving any other jurisdiction that might correspond to them.

13.3. Users Outside the EU

For users residing outside the European Union:

• Spanish laws will apply as primary jurisdiction
• Consumer protection laws of your country will prevail if more favorable
• Disputes may be resolved through international arbitration if both parties agree

15.1. Severability

If any provision of these terms is deemed invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a competent court, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

The failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these terms does NOT constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

15.3. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and DoctVault regarding use of the service, and supersede all prior agreements (verbal or written).

15.4. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without prior written consent. We may assign our rights to any affiliate, successor or purchaser.
