Frequently asked questions

Does the generated PDF have legal validity?
Yes, for most procedures. The PDF is a digital copy of your physical ID, equivalent to a paper photocopy. Valid for administrative procedures, banking applications and private contracts. NOT valid for procedures that require the original physical ID (e.g. in-person registration) nor judicial or notarial processes that require a certified copy.
What if my PDF is rejected?
Common causes: file too large (regenerate with High compression), format not accepted (make sure it is PDF and not Word), blurry image (photograph with more light) or one side missing (verify the PDF contains both images).
Can I use this method for passports?
Yes, with considerations. Passports have more pages (photo, data, stamps, visas). You would need a multi-page PDF. For passports, photograph each page and combine them with the merge PDFs tool.
Is it safe to use free web tools?
It depends on how they work. SAFE are client-side processing tools like DoctVault or those that work offline. RISKY are server-side processing tools that require uploading files to external servers. How to verify: if the tool says "Uploading file..." with a long progress bar, it is server-side.
Does the process work on iPhone/iPad?
Yes, completely. Compatible iOS browsers (2025): Safari 14+, Chrome iOS 90+ and Firefox iOS 90+. Limitation: Safari iOS has File System restrictions; the PDF downloads to the "Files" app in the "Downloads" folder.
